This ground breaking text continues to guide managers, executives, and business students with little experience in the field of finance. Finance for Non-Financial Managers, Seventh Edition, offers a practical introduction to financial decision making for students with no previous exposure to accounting or finance principles or for those that want to broaden their understanding of financial analysis or upgrade old skills in the field of financial management and accounting. This seventh edition improves the clarity and conciseness of many finance techniques and the relationship between the various concepts covered in the book, enabling students to master the language and concepts of finance and accounting to assist them in future careers as managers or entrepreneurs. It also incorporates International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) as GAAP closes out in Canada.

Features

  • *NEW* Problem Solving Examples: Over 85 worked-out problem-solving examples that walk students through the financial concepts are new to this edition. These examples guide the students on how to apply the financial theory and help to prepare them for the self-test exercises and end-of-chapter learning exercises
  • *NEW* Integrated Learning System: Each chapter's learning objectives give structure to the text contents as well as to the student and instructor resources. In addition to each chapter's learning objectives being directly linked to the chapter content and end-of-chapter summaries, they are now also tied to the Review Questions and Learning Exercises
  • *NEW* International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS.): The text has been updated to reflect the revised structures and contents of the new financial statements, including some of the new terms that will be used to list accounts presented in various sections of the statement of income, the statement of comprehensive income, the statement of changes in equity, the statement of financial position, and the statement of cash flows. Recommendations made by the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) are also covered

  • Chapters are grouped under four broad categories to reflect the types of decisions made in organizations: (1) accounting, financial statements, and ratio analysis decisions; (2) operating decisions; (3) financing decisions; and (4) investing decisions
  • Learning Objectives: Each chapter's learning objectives give structure and coherence to the text content, study aids, and instructor's ancillaries. These numbered objectives are introduced at the beginning of the chapter, in the end-of-chapter summaries, and the review questions and learning exercises
  • Opening Case: The chapter-opening case profiles the owners of a fictitious company named Com-puTech Inc. who are faced with investing, operating, and financing decisions. The case highlights topics covered in the chapter and helps to keep the students engaged. Opening cases are also linked to Self-Test Exercises in each chapter
